Skin Toning Tips

While exfoliating is generally considered as a part of the beauty care treatment, using a toner is almost always purely a matter of personal choice. If you have an oily skin and have felt good after using the toner a couple of times, then there is no reason you should not include toning as a regular part of your beauty care treatment. Similarly, if your skin has been left pulled and too tight after you’ve used a toner, then you are best following exfoliating alone, leaving the part of toning out.

Mix two tablespoons of lemon juice with one tablespoon glycerin and three tablespoons of rose water. Rub this juice on the skin. Very effective for a dry skin.Toner for sensitive skin is to mash the strawberries and apply it for 5 minutes and wash it off. Top skin toners help remove all traces of oil, dirt and makeup and revitalize your face by closing the pores.

Exfoliation is again an optional step in everyday routine for facial skincare. However, exfoliation is necessary at least once a week (or twice, depending on the skin type and the environmental conditions). Exfoliation finds its place in facial skincare routine because of the natural tendency of skin to replenish the skin cells every 3 or 4 weeks.

The easiest way of applying a toner is to put it on a cotton pad and wipe face in outward and upward strokes. Toners not only cleanse the skin further and help in removing any remnants of particles that you may have left behind but also cools, nourishes, hydrates and freshens up your skin. It tightens up skin and close up any skin pores that may have opened up while deep cleansing the face. Toners must be alcohol-free as alcohol dries off skin. You can also make a natural skin toner at home. Tomato juice is a good skin toner.

Cucumber toner is a refreshing toner for normal skins. Chop up a small sized fresh cucumber and liquidize it with half a cup of yoghurt. Apply the mixture for 5-10 minutes, and wash it off. Rose is an excellent skin toner. Vitamin E oil and wheat oil are very effective for dry skin.

Toning is not necessary for everyone. It is only really required for those with exceptionally oily skin. Especially if it is still very oily after cleansing. If your skin is relatively clear after toning then it is not always necessary. A lot of toners contain alcohol. It is recommended that a toner is used without alcohol.

Toners are less emphasized as an accepted skin care routine these days. Toners are used to recondition our skin, and give it a balance of natural skin sebum. Usually, there are two types of toners. One is meant for oily skin types and the other for dry skin types. The dry skin toner type contains little or no alcohol so that it will not dries the skin further. Compounds like allantoin, glycerin and soothing plants extracts can be found in toners for dry skin. After toning, your face will feel less stretched and more taut.
